P Kumar Associates' first renovation project, completed in 1994 at Sabarwals Housing in DLF Phase 1. The commission marked an extension of the firm's scope from new construction into the renovation of existing residences. Designed in collaboration with Kaushal Sheth & Associates.
Renovation work brings a different set of construction problems than new build — operating within an existing structural envelope, sequencing demolition and rebuild around occupancy, matching new finishes to retained elements. The 1994 commission established a service line that would recur in PKA's portfolio in later years, including the Malviya Nagar renovations of 2011 and 2025.
Executed by P Kumar Associates as the principal contractor — full scope of civil works, finishing, and handover.
